More Eco-Friendly

More eco-friendly is the key! Everything that we do impacts on the world that we live in. What we buy and use on ourselves, determines what we throw away or send for recycling. It is impossible to have no impact on our eco system, but we can take steps to minimise our impact as best as we can. We do this by:

  • Selling products unwrapped: you can buy lots of our products unwrapped in boxes with a back card. You will be surprised just how much packaging can be saved this way. Buying a chunk of our soap, freshly cut from the block, will require a small piece of wrapping paper, which is much better than having to rip off several layers of packaging! With our Scoop Yourself Deli products, the customer can even bring back their container for a refill!
  • Making sure the packaging we do use is recyclable: Our main packaging items are cardboard, glass and PET plastic bottles, which are all recyclable.
  • Sourcing local suppliers: Wherever possible, we will use a supplier that is as close to us as possible. However, we won't compromise the quality of the ingredients we choose. All of our suppliers are based within the UK.
  • Using only what we need: Because we make in small batches and it is generally made to order, we don't make lots of product that hangs around in storage for a long time. This means that we don't waste materials unnecessarily.
  • In house printing: We make our own high quality labels, back cards and catalogues. This allows us to print off only what we need again saving wastage. Traditional printing means that you have to order tens of thousands of copies at one time. A catalogue for instance would take months if not years to use up, which means any changes to the product range would lead to lots of scrap. In the old days, labels would be printed by an external company and would have to be printed in the tens of thousands. If labelling requirements changed, like in the most recent revision of the Cosmetic Regulations, these would all have to be scrapped. By doing our own printing, our waste is significantly reduced and we can react to changes straight away.
